Project Overview
A New Menu Navigation for Naturepedic's Shopify Migration
Problems
Problems: - Navigation was organized by audience rather than shopping intent, making products difficult to find. - Bedding shoppers could not easily browse by material, collection, or individual items. - Confusing taxonomy created friction and reduced product discoverability. - Limited merchandising opportunities for new, best-selling, and featured products. - Customers struggled to understand differences between mattress models.
Solution
Research: - Conducted competitive analysis of leading mattress and bedding brands. - Identified material, product type, and collection as primary shopping behaviors. - Found customers wanted easier ways to shop individual items, not just bundled sets. - Discovered opportunities to improve product discovery, merchandising, and mattress comparison.
Results
Solution: - Mobile-first, consistent and accessible design - Increased findability of categories, store, search, etc. - Information architecture aligned with ux best practices - Increase taxonomy comprehension - End-to-end, data-driven personalization - Baked in conversion improvements - Simplified business manager tools - Increase in separates and sets - Replatformed and redesigned the site with a customer-centric navigation structure. - Reorganized categories around shopping behaviors including Mattresses, Bedding, Bath, Furniture, Baby, and Sale. - Enabled shopping by material, collection, and a la carte bedding products. - Added merchandising tools for new, best-selling, and featured products. - Improved mattress categorization and comparison to help customers make informed decisions.
